Update on Dyslexia Letter

Image
We received confirmation that our letter was received about a week ago.  Yesterday, a big yellow envelope arrived in the mail.  I can't wait to sign and return the consent form. It's really happening!  We're really doing it. The most amazing thing has happened since I posted To Test or Not to Test? and Signed, Sealed, Delivered .  People are sharing their stories with me.  Growing up with dyslexia, or having a child or relative who struggled in school and later found out they were dyslexic.  Adults who have struggled with dyslexia their entire lives, but have figured out ways to accommodate their needs so they can be successful in their fields despite difficulties.  Did you know Charles Shwab is dyslexic?  Yeah.  And many other famous people you would never have thought had a difficulty in their lives. Recently, I reconnected with a friend and was told that their school district refused to test her daughter until she was in 3rd grade...

God Doesn't Make Mistakes

GOD DOESN'T MAKE MISTAKES. I was sitting here this evening, worrying about things.  Things I can't change.  Things I cannot affect no matter what amount of effort I put into it. Ooh - there's the Big Dipper, the Arrow, and the one that looks like a "W!"   (Caseopeia?  Good thing we're studying constellations this year!) God laid out each of those stars in space in precise locations so we would have a guiding light, wherever we may be.  Explorers, sailors, hikers, and adventurers of all walks, from all over the world have depended on the nigh...

God To the Rescue!!

Image
This week, while reading Home Sweet Home-school by Sue Maakestad, I ran across a rather remarkable story about a woman in dire circumstances and her prayers to God for help.  I could hardly wait to share it with you! ----- "This is the story of a woman who was stranded in her home during a devastating flood. As the storm pounded the valley, the floodwaters rose higher and covered her front porch.  A man on a horse came by and offered her a ride.  She said no, she was asking God to deliver her from the storm. The waters inundated the bottom floor and she went upstairs and sat on the roof of the porch.  A man came by in a rowboat when the water was at the eaves and told her to climb in.  She gave him the same answer. She had climbed to her last perch on the roof when a guy in a helicopter offered her a lift and she turned him down.  The she cried out to God, 'Where are you, Lord?  I asked you to deliver me from the storm and nothing has h...
